07 French Apple Cobbler

My brother Aiman loves the Apple Cobbler. I've never even heard of this dessert before Aiman mentioned his liking. So I googled and looked for the recipe online. I found one that seems reasonable and easy, and followed the recipe exactly as it instructed. The first cobbler was a little bit too sweet and the texture of the topping was not quite right. This was sometime in 2009 or 2010.

Since there were a lot of apples in the house, I thought of the cobbler once again about a few days ago. I reduced the amount of sugar (brown sugar) and took my time in mixing the topping. In the past I used a larger pan to place the apples but I decided to make mini Apple Cobbler this time and create that slight personal feeling to it. It tasted well, and definitely served best with Vanilla ice-cream. The 'warm cobbler meets cool ice-cream' is heavenly.

06 Bread Pudding

I can't believe my eyes. The blog has been abandoned for nearly eight months! My my.

Anyway I am currently at home for the winter break, trying to bake again. First baking goods for this year (for this particular blog) is...Bread Pudding. The pudding lacked a little sweetness because I slightly miscalculated the amount of sugar. Nonetheless it tasted OK! Added raisins and some sunflower seeds. Spreaded some strawberry jam on top. And voila!

05 Home-made Pizza

My mother has had this recipe since 1992, when we were in the States. I am not sure where she got it from, but I can assure you that the Pizza is undeniably eccellente! Taste one tiny bite, and you'll crave for more and more!!! I had a generous helping hand from my cousin and her husband, and we enjoyed the mouth-watery, superb thick topping Pizzas (Yes, we baked two big ones!). I believe that this home-made Pizzas are worth the sweat, kneading, and patience. It challenges one's creativity too. By the way, the dough turned out just nice, soft and delicious. Definitely will bake these yummy stuff again!!

04 Kaoru's Sushi Rolls

A little story behind the title: I first became involved in sushi making about four years ago when Kaoru, a very dear friend of mine, asked me to be her assistant. At that time, we managed to make 30 sushi rolls for an event at the university :) Anyway, my sushi rolls are named after my sushi Sensei, Kaoru san. ありがとう先生!

No baking this time, but I would still like to share my sushi making session. I made nine rolls, with tuna mayo, crab sticks, and cucumber filling.

03 Apple Pie (II)

Yet another Apple Pie.

This time I tried to make smaller apple pies rather than one big pie. I thought it would be 'cuter' and well, I do not want to post the exact same thing twice in a row on my blog. Improvement was made, and the result: thinner base, but again not too juicy filling. I think the apple juice got dried up in the baking process and so, I still have to work this bit out.

02 Apple Pie

The Apple Pie is new to me and I really baked it just because I wanted to see how it looks like. It was a nice experiment and I must say, it was not 'that' difficult. I love the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg, and the slight brittleness in the dough. Things I need to work out are one, a thinner base (so that people will not be stuffed after having one bite) and two, juicier apple filling. Anyway, if time permits, I will try to perfect the recipe.

01 Blueberry Cheesecake

The Blueberry Cheesecake is an absolute favourite of mine (and my family), and I have baked it a few times already in the past. A friend of my mother gave the recipe six years ago when we were in Japan.

Yesterday was the first time I baked the cheesecake in Malaysia. The ingredients are mostly imported items and so I had to get them at Mercato, Pavillion. The feedback I got from my fellow food tasters was positive, which motivates me more to bake and continue baking!
